This unfortunately is Humanoids 2002 edition of the book I say unfortunately because Humanoids saw fit to publish the book with a horrible re-coloring job and proudly boasted: "Fans of Bilal should also take note that Exterminator 17 features a master re-coloring by comics veteran Dan Brown" Whut?!? What they really meant to say was: "Fans of Bilal should also take note that we at Humanoids decided to take a dump all over his drawings!" Whatever... I couldn't find it anywhere else on TPB and the book isn't entirely stripped of awesomeness Enki Bilal, teams with world-renowned writer Jean-Pierre Dionnet to create a unique science fiction adventure. For generations, warrior robots called, `Exterminators` have fought in deadly environments across the galaxy. When the soul of the man who created the Exterminators is transferred into one of his killing machines, a series of events is set into motion that will lead to the liberation of his creations from their human masters 66 pages
This ran in Heavy Metal about a hundred years ago. (At least, it feels that way today.) You could assemble an alternative version from that run with some work.
It's been a long, long time but I recall it was a good story and more coherent that a lot of Heavy Metal translations.
